This seems to either be a bug or a misconfiguration of some sort. Either
way, it is not good, and has to be investigated. As such I will file a
bug report on this matter. I have been designing the MARC-interaction in
Emilda myself, and I know that the idea has explicitly been to preseve
information, even though it is not presented. As such, I will probably
investigate this myself, and will inform You immediately when I have
figured out what is the cause of this behaviour.
It appears to behave correctly when editing a book during the "import"
procedure. However if you edit a book once it is already in the system,
then data disappears. Also, it always seems to add a new book linked to
the same bibliography when "editing" a book. There needs to be a
seperate way to add an additional copy of a book and to edit a bibliography.
Another thing that I think is worth adding in the todo list is allow
importing of records from z3950 that do not have ISBNs. Currently your
system allows searching for new books to import by title or author, but
once you click on that book it just grabs the ISBN and brings you back
to the front page and expects you to search for the book with this newly
found ISBN. The problem (at least for me) is that we have many books
that do not have ISBNs (too old or small-time publications) but that do
exist on either the LOC or NLC (national library of canada) z3950
servers. Currently, there is no simple way to import these records into
Emilda.
