Hi friends, I am Sabariah from Malaysia. I have been in this group for awhile but have not contributed anything so far. Reading all the email lately urge me to share something about improving our English. It is true that taking down some words that unfamiliar to you while reading and find the meaning in the dictionary can help you understand the word. I did that years ago when I want to improve my English by reading. But I found out that the word does not really stuck into my head and it really take me forever to finish my reading. Then, I put down my note book and put away my dictionary. I just read word to word, sentence to sentence and page to page. Eventually I understand the story line. Only then I come back to my note book and my dictionary. I come back to the words that I do not understand and write the meaning whi
ch I get from the dictionary. Mind you, we have to write the meaning in English by
using the English dictionary. After that I try to construct few sentences from the word. I even try to use them in my writing and while speaking to other people. I can truly say that I improve my English by reading English materials, listening English and speaking in English. It is true that signing yourself in any English course help a lot. But for those who has no time and mean for the course, just read anything in English and be brave to speak English (like most of members here) help so much more. Please feel free to write to me. I am excited to get to know people from all over the world.
