Which is exactly the lesson one would wish the public commentary on DVC would provide, not simply an opportunity for evangelization. Of course, I see this as a matter of standards of proof and (as LMM so well expressed it) relevance of authority, while the commentators in question no doubt saw it as a matter of theological scandal.
