OVERVIEW OF THE CONFERENCE
The AMS Workshop concentrates on modeling and simulation applications for
high performance computer technologies to different topics. The audience
include users, vendors and scientists operating in applying innovative
technology to Modeling and Simulation, once these areas are being used more
widely as a way to prevent problems, to conduct situations and to help
taking fast actions in extreme situations. The areas of environment and
ecology, safety and security, and virtual reality were included in the
program to enrich the contents of this event, and also to achieve a more
diversified public, promoting a better interaction within specialists of
different areas, which have as common issues the modeling and the
simulation.
AMS2006 will propose advanced M&S techniques and applications in the
wonderful framework of Buzios: the most charming city in Rio. In this first
edition worldwide specialists will have the opportunity to participate and
interact in this important International Forum.
The AMS2006 - Applied Modeling and Simulation - is an event of new
denomination, although it is originated in HMS, an international event
initiated in 1999, which occurs every year. Seven editions of this workshop
can be already counted: HMS1999 was held in Genoa, HMS2000 was held in
Portofino, HMS2001 in Marseille, HMS2002 in Bergeggi, HMS2003 in Riga, HMS
2004 in Rio de Janeiro, HMS2005 in Marseille. This event enlarges the idea
of the HMS event, by adding new topics of interest to the already important
ones by making available to the audience a whole new range of topics.

Papers offering novel research contributions in any aspect of modeling and
simulation are solicited for submission to the International Workshop on
Applied Modeling and Simulation.
