Resend, since the original fell on deaf ears.

I tried the old trick of typing Ctrl-V then Ctrl-6 to see what code was 
produced, but it doesn't seem to produce any code at all.

Ctrl-^ and Ctrl-6 don't switch to the alternate buffer, as they do in 
the Windows and Linux binaries.
