Subject: EditPlus opens when Visual Studio 2005 starts ASP.NET Development Server - msg#00021

I am working on a Visual Studio 2005 project that uses the ASP.Net
Development Server. When I run the VS project (Debug / Start
Debugging or Debug / Start without debugging), it starts the ASP.Net
Development Server and also tries to open the aspx file in EditPlus.
That causes an error, which is understandable.

I've been using EditPlus for several years to edit legacy ASP pages.
I had EditPlus set up as the default program in my Windows folder
options for ASP and ASPX files.

Do you know why EditPlus is executing? I've deleted the ASPX file
type definition from my Windows Folder Options / File Types, but that
hasn't solved it. I'm guessing there's something in the registry
that's causing this?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Syntax Colour dot notation in Actionscript 2.0

Yes .. that works .. but it's not an ideal solution since it still validates incorrect combinations of sub-keywords. e.g. it would validate a wrong combination like this .. ComponentMixins.binding.data.mx Other syntax colouring schemes use HTML entity or escape characters. Wondering if I should try this for dot .. &046; .. I'll try it. I'm looking at GeSHi syntax colourer .. http://qbnz.com/highlighter/ ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> See what's inside the new Yahoo! Re: EditPlus opens when Visual Studio 2005 starts ASP.NET Development Server

Hello: Just open up EditPlus Preferences, and look under "Settings & Syntax" for the ASP/ASPX file type (probably under 'VB') and uncheck the option "Associate in Explorer". -dZ. ----- Original Message ----- From: cdspectrumhr Sent: 6/23/2006 11:59:35 AM To: editplus-hHKSG33TihhbjbujkaE4pw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [edit+] EditPlus opens when Visual Studio 2005 starts ASP.NET Development Server > I am working on a Visual Studio 2005 project that uses the ASP.Net > Development Server. Strange Windows/Explorer problem

I've started getting a strange problem when I double-click a file to open it in EditPlus from Windows Explorer. This is for files where I have changed the default association - e.g. .txt files. The Explorer window freezes while the file is open, then when I close the file, I get an error message saying Windows cannot the file, and did I type it correctly. This also happens if I right-click on the file and choose 'Edit' from the context menu, but doesn't happen if I choose 'Editplus' from the context menu. So it's something to do with the way Windows routes the 'edit' association. It's not a serious problem, I can still view and edit the file, it's just annoying that I get a frozen window and the error message. Any ideas? Steve ------------------------ Yahoo! Re: EditPlus opens when Visual Studio 2005 starts ASP.NET Development Server

two possible solutions: 1) check isapi associations for aspx files in IIS. 2) try to unregister .net isapi extentions and reregister them again. This is done with regiis command line utility in the .net framework folder. >I am working on a Visual Studio 2005 project that uses the ASP.Net >Development Server.
