Bit rate selection algorithm: msg#00030

Subject:	Bit rate selection algorithm

What algorithm uses the driver for selecting the most appropriate bit rate? Onoe, AutoRate Fallback...? None of them?
I'm trying to know what is the most typical algorithm used in commercial cards, but I didn't find any information about it. Any help would be very useful.
