Because the latest changes were made by kernel developers not associated
with the project. For example, PCMCIA changes are made in all kernel
drivers at once.
The "for_linus" branch in CVS is more up-to-date with the kernel. Once
I submit the differences to the kernel and they are applied, there will
be no difference.
Updating other CVS branches is a lower priority. It takes an additional
effort because of compatibility issues.
