Hello,
Please tell me why new cvx and 0.15 orinoco-pcmcia not support
monitor mode on 8.72 firmware with channel hoping and this monitor
mode is unstable...
Old 0.13e drivers didn't support directly monitor mode, but with
rtfmon and dragorn patches + patches for 2.6.x kernel support these
old drivers for orinoco-pcmcia are the best for monitoring purposes.
They support all firmwares (also without problem 8.72 with channel
hoping) and works stable in monitor mode without any interrupts.
These patched drivers with full monitor and kismet mode support you
could download from:
http://www.kismetwireless.net/code/orinoco-0.13-26-r1.tar.gz
HOWTO: http://www.kismetwireless.net/HOWTO-orinoco-drivers.txt
So, why 0.15 and cvs line of this drivers don't support channel
hoping in monitor mode in 8.72 firmware and monitor mode is very
unstable?
I must add, that generally new drivers in CVS are better than 0.13
to usual work, they support wireless tools, iwlist scanning, etc,
etc. But monitoring with kismet in newest drivers is practically
impossible (that wrote me kimset developer). And unfortunately there
is no monitor patch for orinoco-usb devices...
