Need help installing orinoco 'swapbox' card: msg#00003

Subject: Need help installing orinoco 'swapbox' card

Hi

I recently purchased an Orinoco gold card pci/swapbox for my linux machine, since supposedly orinico wireless cards are supposed to work with any OS.  I’m currently running Redhat Linux 9.  I’ve followed the install instructions that came with the card and after 6 days of working on trying to get card to work I’m pleading for help L   I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve downloaded the pcmcia-cs package and have installed it in the /usr/src  I’ve dumped the Orinoco files in the pcmcia dir and have ran a

-make config

Then

-          ./Build and lastly ./Install.  These install all the files correctly I belive.   I do an lsmod and I don’t see any Orinoco modules loaded unless I manually load Orinoco.o and hermes.o.  I reboot the machine and those modules are gone.  I check the /proc/pci and the system sees network controller (Lucent Microelectronis).

At this point I’m really lost as I’ve read numerous install instructions pertaining to this card again with no luck.

Please help L

Thx

Guillermo
