SIOCSIWFREQ: Operation not supported

Hi,

when my "ORiNOCO Classic GOLD PC Card" is set to Ad-Hoc mode, then I can 
change the channel using
~ # iwconfig eth1 channel 2
eth1: New link status: Disconnected (0002)
eth1: New link status: Connected (0001)

But if it's set to "Managed" then I get

~ # iwconfig eth1 mode Managed
eth1: New link status: Disconnected (0002)
eth1: New link status: Connected (0001)

~ # iwconfig eth1 channel 3
SIOCSIWFREQ: Operation not supported

Is that normal?
