could not see RTS/CTS frames!?

Hi,
  I have two machines set in ad-hoc mode using the command
iwconfig eth0 mode ad-hoc
  The two machines use Wavelan turbo 11mb silver card (pretty old, saying 
they support RTS/CTS). 

  The third machine is patched into monitor mode. I use
iwpriv eth0 monitor x x
to scan the type of frames in different channels. I changed the function of 
orinoco_int_rxmonitor and printed the frame type using printk
(KERN_DEBUG "TYPE"). Then I use 
cat /proc/kmsg
to check the type of frames between the first two machine which ping each 
other. 

  I never saw RTS/CTS frames but saw ACK frames.

  What is the possible problem?
