Subject: SMSD sends more than 1 message - msg#00088

List: linux.drivers.gammu

Date: Prev Next Index Thread: Prev Next Index
Hi, why is my SMSD sending multiple messages
sometimes. I have a perl script that checks the
"inbox" for messages containing forexample "weather
helsinki" and returns the weather. But sometimes the
users get the first message then a few seconds later
it "updates" the message with nothing new. Original
sent message was about 100 characters. I "chomp" the
result before sending it so there (shouldn´t)is no
linebreak. The sending phone is a Nokia 5110 and I use
version 0.74 on RedHat 9.

Thanks in advance
Nicke

Re: Cell Identification

Hi there! Actually you can't know what a cell means unless you work for the operator. Companies like Nokia, Ericsson, CMG actually sell expensive products to operator that do this conversion (cellid to map area). Alternatively, you can do your own mapping by walking around town and writing down the Cell IDs and street names :) The funny thing is that most of the gammu users are almost always in the same cell, isn't it? Cell Identification

Hi Using a Nokia 6110 and gammu it is possible via netmonitor (Test 11) to obtain the cell identification where phone is connected to. On the display screen under normal use one gets the physical location e.g. Barrack Street (Netmonitor Test 11 - CID: 48513). Can Gammu extract this physical location, i.e.Barrack Street, if yes then how? Regards. Feizal --------------------------------------------------------------- ?All views or opinions expressed in this electronic message and its attachments are the view of the sender and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Western Cape Provincial Government (?the WCPG?). No employee of the WCPG is entitled to conclude a binding contract on behalf of the WCPG unless he/she is an Accounting Officer of the WCPG, or his or her authorised representative. The information contained in this message and its attachments may be confidential or privileged and is for the use of the named recipient only, except where the sender specifically states otherwise. If you are not the intended recipient you may not copy or deliver this message to anyone.?

Gammu Graphical User Interface (GammuGUI) update: logo working also in Linux

The 0.3.34 is the last version available for Gammu Graphical User Interface. http://www.geocities.com/lcassioli/gammugui/gammugui0-3-34-source.zip Now you should be able to manage operator/startup logo both from Windows & Linux, without having Linux crashing :) It looks like I reached the end of my spare time :-( So, I won't be more able to upgrade GammuGUI on a regular base. I don't even have time to compile & upload last version! :-((( This means that probably 0.3.34 will be the last version available for quite a long time. I'm sorry for this, but however anybody can continue GammuGUI development starting from where I stopped. Regards, Luca
