Bug#261696: problem occurs when you run slapd
under a user other than root

Package: slapd
Version: 2.1.30-3
Followup-For: Bug #261696

I think that I've solved this problem. It only occurs if you run slapd
under a different user (like slapd). Then slapd is not able to write
its pidfile to /var/run/slapd.pid. The simplest solution is to change
the pidfile location in /etc/ldap/slapd.conf to /var/lib/slapd/slapd.pid
and set the appropriate permissions for /var/lib/slapd.

BTW: It would be nice, if the installation scripts would provide an
easier way to setup slapd to run as a non-privileged user.

Cheers Lars
