Bug#205937: Work around?

I was upgrading my apache2 installation and after all was said
and done I couldn't start apt-get again because of the
  Reading Package Lists... Error!
  E: Unable to parse package file /var/lib/dpkg/status (1)
  E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

situation. Is there a work-around at the moment?
