Brian, I appreciate that you are busy, but we are both talking about 
adding the single line

  sed -i "/dependency_libs/ s/'.*'/''/" debian/heimdal-dev/usr/lib/*.la

to the binary-post-install/heimdal-dev:: target in debian/rules?
