Just FYI: The 'troubleshooting' link on http://www.freetds.org/docs.html
doesnt appear to work; I learned how to set up the TDSDUMP from
http://www.freetds.org/userguide/x2275.htm (thank you google!) :)

i also tried configuring with
./configure --without-libiconv --disable-libiconv --with-tdsver=4.2
(versus simply --disable-libiconv as the documentation describes)
but i still get the iconv error -- arent those parameters supposed to
exclude iconv in it's entirety ?

not very much help....

Not to try to pass this problem off to you, but if you desire a shell on the
machine, we can prolly set something up..
