Quite right, Moshe. Until recently, one had to explicitly configure for ODBC, else the driver wouldn't get built. Frediano added autodetection, which simplifies things for most people, but snagged you. The best answer is to base autodetection on the existence of the header files, plus make --disable-odbc work. I can do the latter, perhaps next weekend. That's a must for 0.62. Meantime, you need a workaround. You might install an ODBC driver manager, as Frediano suggests. (Even though you won't use the ODBC driver, at least the build will succeed.) Or you might try deleting src/odbc/Makefile; that might work. If you squint at config.log, you might be able to tell how the autodetection works and move the file(s) out of the way temporarily. I can't offer more specifics because I haven't looked into it.
