Hi, you are lucky with 5-15 seconds, I have the same problem but sometimes it takes more than 30 seconds and the php script give up. I connect to mssql 7.0 on remote NT 4.0. When php open connection to mssql sometimes it takes 5-15 seconds. Not every time, generally half of all connection is ok. Maybe somebody have some idea?
