I ran a packet sniffer to catch the query the ASE driver was sending to
turn off autocommit.  It sent 'set transaction isolation level 1' then
'BEGIN TRANSACTION'.

If you create a proc /w autocommit on, and execute it with autocommit off
it will throw out an exception due to the different chained modes between
the two.  But if you try the same thing with the windows ASE driver it
works.

If you enable autocommit during an open transaction it's supposed to
commit the open transactions according to the MS documentation.

"If an application switches from manual-commit to autocommit mode, the
driver commits any transactions currently open on the connection"
