You might want to try windump.  It saves data in tcpdump(8) format and
behaves much the same way.

It would be great if you want to add this, Steve.  I don't have the
requisite setup.

No, it's quite different.  Sybase supports a few different ways, LDAP being
one and IIRC kerberos being another.  I haven't played with any of that.

You could, you know.  Their Linux servers are free to download.  For the
older version they they permit free deployment; the new version is for
development only.  I installed it on Linux a year or so ago, but that box
gets used for all manner of things and is rarely actually running Sybase for
me.  One of these days, I'm going to run Sybase on NetBSD under Linux
emulation.  It's already been done by at least one other guy, so I'm told.

Sure.  The PWD.in file and base freetds.conf point to Sybase's public "JDBC"
server.
