Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

Just from the way it looked when I was trying it. I thought it might be
polling ports. I have since installed etherreal on my Windows box and I
want to play around with it. I'll go have a look at that code now as well.
I need to get my laptop working again (pothole in the hard drive) to check
traffic across the wire.

Yes. If we discovered the instance name in this manner, an ODBC.INI or a
freetds.conf entry would not be needed. But do the Sybase servers do the
same thing? I have no experience with any of the sybase servers. Is there
any try/trial code servers from Sybase that will allow remote access?
