I've changed the java code to use java.sql.Date resp. java.sql.Timestamp and 
it works as you have said. Date gives me '2007-10-19' and 
Timestamp '2007-10-19 15:35:49.0'.

But the work-around doesn't work. I had to uncheck the standard format to see 
the timepart of the timestamp and now the time is always '19.10.2007 
00:00:00'.
