Re: GUI launches a window (on Linux) but nothing appears in client-area: msg#00044db.squirrel-sql.users
Rob - Just FYI: Ok, I did upgrade to Java 6, but that alone does NOT fix this 'java-swing-application' issue! Here's another link that seems to confirm that the problem continues in java-6: http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Java and their solution/patch is more long-winded for java-6 than it is for java-5 I tried the java-5 'workaround' (the 'export' thing, but it did NOT work for me). So, my (simple) solution is just a couple of clicks away...i.e. just switch off 'Beryl' window-manager anytime I want to run my 'SQuirreL' or my 'NetBeans IDE', and then re-enable Beryl again after I'm done with the java-app. Thanks again for the great SQuirreL product and the quick response for identifying the culprit (Beryl)! Cheers and regards... Sounds like Sun went 2 for 2 this time - scoring both Gnome and KDE :) At least there is a work-around and the problem is big enough to merit a quick response. Rob Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
