Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

I'm not knocking the developers, afterall, they have provided a good
program, free of charge, that I have used for several years.
I'm sure that they have lives, jobs and other demands on their time
besides Rekall.

You are right that the major distros are going to drop Rekall,
they do not consider it to be actively developed.

If Rekall is going to grow and be widely adopted it will have to
be easier to install than it is now, and/or someone willing to
maintain packages.
for right or wrong, the average user is not going to
spend days trying to get a working install of Rekall.
They will try whatever version is in the repositories and
when it doesn't work, they will uninstall and move on.

I will eventually find the solutions to my problems and will
have a working Rekall install, most potential users will
not.
