Subject: Re: Rekall-245 compilation problem solved

This strange behaviour has been solved.
The 'make clean' process apparently does not remove everything that the make process has generated, and the 'make config' process does not overwrite old configuration data with new found information.
What happened: I had been experimenting with openSUSE operating system and abandoned it again in favour of the latest version of PCLinuxOS.
It was easy to delete the source code and extract it again from the tarball.
If only I had know before.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am experimenting to compile Rekall-2.4.5 in the new PCLinuxOS-2007 operating system with KDE version 3.5.6 030506. Python version is 2.4.3

All dependent files ar e installed, 'make config.kde' found all the dependent files and reported no errors. This is also true for kde3 includes and libraries.

Then, compiling stopped with the message:
scons: *** Source `db/dbtcp/libs/common/kb_classes.h' not found, needed by target `build/kde/db/dbtcp/kb_dbtcp.os'.  Stop.
make: *** [kde] Error 2
I found that Rekall was looking in a different directory than the file was. I was able to fix this by copying the 'libs/common/' directory to 'db/dbtcp/libs/common/'

The same applied to the  'dbtcp/support' directory.

After this I run into this error:
scons: *** Source `/opt/kde3/include/klocale.h' not found, needed by target `build/kde/db/dbtcp/kb_dbtcp.os'.  Stop.
This is not a Rekall file, but a KDE file that could not be found.
Experimenting with
'with-kde-includes=/usr/include' or 'with-kde3-includes=/usr/include'
did not fix the problem, after all 'make config.kde' had found this itsel f.
I resolved this by creating a symbolic link to '/opt/kde/include'
(Appears to me that the pointer is hard coded somewhere in one of the source files).

The next error:
scons: *** Source `support/dbtcp/support/dbtcp/define.h' not found, needed by target `build/kde/support/dbtcp/my_array.os'.  Stop.
created directories and copied here from 'support/dbtcp/' directory

Another one of the same kind:
scons: *** Source `libs/common/libs/common/kb_appptr.h' not found, needed by target `build/kde/libs/common/kb_appptr.os'.  Stop.
created directories and copied here from '/libs/common/' directory

Here then is a problem I can not solve by this method:
scons: *** Source `libs/common/build/kde/libs/common/kb_database.moc' not found, needed by target `build/kde/libs/common/kb_database.os'.  Stop.
The file 'kb_database.moc' is not found in the Rekall tarball at all.
What can I do here?

With best regards and thanks f or any help
