Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation. more...

Can't establish relation with Query Block: msg#00022

Subject: Can't establish relation with Query Block

Maybe this is a newbie problem but I spent hours of time without
finding a solution.

I have written about linking more than one table to list and
expressed my need of a SQL object.

It was easy. The SQL object is a Query thing, and we have to
add a Query Block on our Form.

But the weird thing is the link object in this QueryBlock
connect in a reverse fashion with the MasterBlock on our form.
However a TableBlock was doing its duty well.

That master block may be a table block or a query block the problem
doesn't change.

Let me go in detail:
A table is designed to keep records of an operation in our firm.
And some fields will get their values by the help of some link objects.
The connection of those link objects are a bit complex, so a
simple 1:N table connection can't solve my problem. The Detail
Block need to get rows of records by the help of a SQL statement.

I tried the master block to be a simple table structure (used the
form design wizard) and also in another case from a simple query
(select * from TABLENAME) but it didn't change my problem.
In either case when I want to determine the ParentField of the
link object the dropdownbox only lists the fields from the
DetailQueryBlock but I think it has to list the fields from
the MasterBlock of the form.

In two cases there is only one difference. If I arrange
the MasterBlock as a table object the ChildField dropdownbox
filled with MasterBlock's fields. DisplayExpression dropdownbox
is also the same. On the other hand ParentField dropdownbox is
filled with DetailQuery's fields.

But if I arrange MasterBlock as a Query object all the three
dropdownboxes are filled with DetailQuery's fields.

A simple FIELD object works perfectly by the determined
connection between MasterBlock and the DetailQueryBlock.
This shows there is no broblem establishing the connection
between blocks. But it seems the problem occurs about the
LINK OBJECT.

Thanks for your interest.
