Subject: Re: Strange inconsistency between smart_ and hddtemp_smartctl temperature readings

Aha, interesting...

On the other hand, the drives on the storage blade that are connected through a highpoint raid card, give smart_ Munin temperature readings as actual temperature (see log below) that are consistent with the hddtemp_smartctl plugin. I'm a bit confused.. is this supposed to work this way?

Thanks,
Andrey.

Hello,

I'm looking at the graphs from far away and wondering, is our server
going to have a meltdown, or is it just a misreading on the plugin part.
I hope it's the latter.. looks like it anyway ;)

So, down to the problem:

smart_ plugin is reading stable temperatures of 121 on sda, while
hddtemp_smartctl plugin is reading a stable 26-28. Any ideas why?

Here's the hddtemp output from smartctl:

194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 121 093 000 Old_age
Always - 26

Is hddtemp_smartctl reading the last value and smart_ the first?

Yes.
Have a look at the remarks, here:
