Crystal Reports image field is defined as text?

PG Driver  version:  7.02.03
Crystal Version: 9.0

Trying to create a report that would show images stored in Pg 7.2.1.
However, when looking at the field definition of bytea field, it is defined
as a String with length of 510 and not a Blob field.  Has  anyone had any
luck showing images in Crystal with PG?
