Re: How can I Export/Import a single or multiple tables from/to Oracle 8 fo: msg#00015

Subject: Re: How can I Export/Import a single or multiple tables from/to Oracle 8 for windows95?
Prateek,
Sorry for the delay. Why do you need the SID? You must have (i guess) only
the default/starter database installed and the SID should be ORCL. The
Export command ( run at the command prompt) should not ask you for the SID.
If you type EXP at the cmd prompt it will guide you through and ask you
which user/tables you want to export and give a default name to the export
file (ex*.dmp). Try and let me know if you need help.

database? Is it same as my login name like SCOTT whose password is TIGER? I
tried your method with the above login name i.e. at command prompt, I typed
C:\>SET ORACLE_SID=SCOTT and then when I typed EXP at command prompt, it
says BAD COMMAND OR FILE NAME.
> Let me explain you my problem. I have 5 tables in the
user SCOTT. I want to give these tables to my friend. Hence, I want to
export these tables into a file, email the file(s) to my friend, and he will
then import these in his database. The problem is how to export and then
import, to or from a file. It doesn't matter whether all the tables (other
then the required 5 tables also) are copied into the exported file or each
table is to be exported indivisually. I just want to know how to go about
it. I would really appreciate it very much if you could please help me in
this regard.
