Oops sqlplus also doesn't work... I guess I have a problem with most of
the external Oracle tools then. The database works fine and runs on the
same machine. running sqlplus results in the following error:
ERROR:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%
s],
[%s], [%s]
SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
SQL*Plus: Release 8.1.7.0.0 - Production on Thu Feb 27 09:29:12 2003
But.... I think I also know the answer to the problem, on this machine we
only use svrmrgl to connect to the database. A while ago we upgraded the
OS on the machine from solaris 7 to 8 and since then sqlplus hasn't worked
but since we hardly ever use it I had completely forgotten about it.
So, I guess a reinstall of the oracle tools would probably do the job for
me.

Probably a dumb question, but the database is on the server that you are
running imp on isn't it?
What happens if you run sqlplus rather than imp at the command line? does
it
pick up the correct environment variables and display the
appropriate "Enter
user-name:" prompt?
