And success. Others had suggested this off-line and after some playing, 
it worked.

Thanks to all who helped.

Suggestion for Paul DuBois and the maintainers of the online MySQL 
Guide: others may have this problem (a Windows Server and a Unix 
Client). It may be helpful to include this.
