Problems with users after upgrading to 3.23.55: msg#00110

Subject: Problems with users after upgrading to 3.23.55

I just did an upgrade today, to the latest stable MySQL, and much to my dismay, some of my users couldn't access the databases they were supposed to.

I normally make a user with specific rights to a specific DB, and then use that user in a DSN, so I can use the DB in ASP code. (Primarily to contain any programming errors, so I don't wipe all DBs, if something bad should happen)

But, as I said i upgraded to 3.23.55 today, and now some, not all, of the users aren't allowed to log in their respective DBs.

I tried renaming the user, the DB, changing the password, changing the DB name, deleting the user, and creating it again, but all to no avail, they still can't access the DBs.

So, i've had to use the root user for these DSNs, something i'm not entirely happy about.

Is this a known bug, or have something changed drastically in the user management from 3.23.52 -> .55?

(I can add that I primarily use MySQL Front for all my DB interaction, but i have tried regular SQL as per the manual, and both will not work)
