Can anyone at least tell me what versions match between mysql and myodbc?

Subject: compiling myodbc 3.51/3.52 on mac

Hello,

New subscriber here....

browsing through the archives, I saw there was someone trying to put out a
new version of the mac driver... but until that actually happens, it seems
like it should be a simple matter to compile the driver!

...WRONG!

First, I have the mac os installer version of mysql 4.1.3-beta installed.

Now, with myodbc 3.51, it looks like that's not updated to mysql 4.1 -- it
bombs in catalog.c complaining about the number of params to int2str(). I
assume that's because the API has changed.

Second, thinking that maybe the newer 3.52 version of myodbc would compile,
it appears that there are some logical problems with the configure process!

After running aclocal and automake, the following configure line was
used:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/odbc --with-mysql-dirs=/usr/local/mysql
--without-debug --enable-gui=no --host=powerpc-apple

Unfortunately, upon getting down to the MySQL section:

MySQL CONFIGURATION - CLIENT LIBS AND HEADERS

The following error came up:

configure: error: Could not find 'libmysqlclient.a'. See 'config.log'
for errors

Obviously /usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.a surely exists, and seems to
work fine.... so it's a configure issue?

Something's missing here... what version of mysql does myodbc 3.51 need to
be built with? What is needed to build myodbc 3.52? How can we ever get
mac os odbc connectivity?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!
