Crystal Reoports V9 & MySQL ODBC 3.51.18

I am just getting into using MySQL and have V9 with the SQL Designer
downloaded to make life easier in setting up links to do the reports.

I thought I would start with a simple master slave report listing time
records (timerecords) per job (matters). The SQL designer creates an SQL
statement shown below.

The ODBC driver provides an error
You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to
your MySQL version for the right syntax to use near 'INNER JOIN'
'LLCOPY'.'timerecords' timerecords ON matters

Although I am happy with databases SQL sytax is a new area. As far as I can
see the syntax is OK but there obviously isn't or it would work. I don't
know if the issue is with the MySQL engine or the ODBC driver. The ODBC &
MySQL installation was taken from the MySQL site 2 days ago from the binary
production files.

Any help and/or guidance will be gratefully received.
