MyODBC on OS X 10.3 (Panther)

Has anyone got MyODBC working properly on Mac OS X 10.3? That's properly as
in natively using the OS-provided iodbc installation...

The instructions at <URL:
http://www.mysql.com/products/myodbc/faq_2.html#SEC40> are incidentally
slightly wrong - the library to link against for a thread-safe build is
-lmysqlclient_r, not -lmysqlclienti_r.

Ignoring that, once the bundle's built and installed in the right place, I
set up the /Library/ODBC/odbc.ini file with:

[ODBC Data Sources]
Test      = MySQL

[ODBC]
Trace = 0
DebugFile = /tmp/odbc.log

[Test]
Driver      = /Library/MyODBC/lib/libmyodbc3-3.51.06.bundle
Description = silly test
Server      = 127.0.0.1
Database    = test
User        = root
Password    = secret
port        = 3306
----

However running 'odbctest DSN=Test' fails with:

iODBC Demonstration program
This program shows an interactive SQL processor
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Unknown MySQL Server Host '???L' (1),
SQLSTATE=HY000

MySQL 4.0.18 is listening on port 3306, and is contactable by 'telnet
localhost 3306'.

The hostname being logged looks like random bytes instead of anything I've
configured, so it might just be as simple as a config error on my part.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
