mysql.sock

hi all,
I have mysql running on RaQ4 system. I tried to move /var/lib/mysql to
/home/mysql and then change the datadir to /home/mysql in safe_mysqld
file, but it didn't work. so I copied back the  /home/mysql to
/var/lib/myql, and now when I try to start the server by using
"mysql.server start" i get the following error messages

020627 16:47:53  Can't start server : Bind on unix socket: Permission
denied
020627 16:47:53  Do you already have another mysqld server running on
socket: /v
ar/lib/mysql/mysql.sock ?
020627 16:47:53  Aborting

I ca see that mysql.socket also disappeared from /var/lib/mysql/
directory. does anyone know whats going on.  please help
