Re: Installing MySQL++ on Slackware 8.1: msg#00067db.mysql.c++
OK, sorry about that. Here are the details. The README-file says to start with automake and that's what I did... bash-2.05a# automake automake: Makefile.am: required file `./INSTALL' not found automake: Makefile.am: required file `./NEWS' not found automake: Makefile.am: required file `./COPYING' not found automake: Makefile.am: required file `./AUTHORS' not found automake: Makefile.am: required file `./ChangeLog' not found automake: configure.in: required file `./depcomp' not found /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/lang-compile.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL /usr/share/automake/am/lang-compile.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL As you see, about a million errors. Then somebody in some online-forum told me to ignore the automake and autoconf commands and go straight for ./configure so that's what I did and then I got this: bash-2.05a#./configure [lots of configure-stuff] checking for MySQL library directory... /usr/local/mysql/lib checking for MySQL include directory... configure: error: Didn't find the mysql include dir in '/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql /usr/local/include/mysql /opt/mysql/include/mysql /usr/include/mysql' Now I'm not 100% sure what the configuration is looking for but since there's a bunch of header-files(.h-files) in /usr/local/mysql/include I thought this might be the directory it was looking for so I did bash-2.05a# ./configure --with-mysql-include=/usr/local/mysql/include [lots of configure-stuff] checking for MySQL include directory... configure: error: Didn't find the mysql include dir in '/include/mysql' and this is basically where I gave up. Could it be that this include-directory is absent because I installed from a binary-distribution maybe? Do I have to uninstall then and download the source-distribution instead? I'm sorry for wasting everybodys time but please help me out here.
