Thank you for the patch, I now have it committed.  I fixed several other things 
in
neighboring functions at the same time.

By the way, as with most open-source projects, we prefer patches in 'unified'
format.  In case you don't know, you do this by adding the -u option to the
diff command.  For instance 'cvs diff -u data.c'.  It is easier to read
(in my opinion at least) and it gives some lines of context in case line numbers
in different people's versions of a file don't match up exactly.
