Choosing A Webhost:
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. db.maxdb

Subject: RE: ERR_STATE: cannot determine current db state

I think I just found the problem: When I use a remote desktop, I had to specify the host using the -n option in dbmcli. Connections using the <Local> protocol fail. Logging on the console did not show these problems, and the database could be started without any problems.

Thanks
Robson

Hi,

Today I started to have a problem with my MaxDB (7.5.0.19) installation. With DBMGui, the database state appeared as Unknown. So I tried to stop/start the database manually. I stopped the service via control panel (I'm using Windows XP), and, then, issued the following commands:

dbmcli on dbtest>db_state
OK
State
OFFLINE

---
dbmcli on dbtest>db_offline
OK

---
dbmcli on dbtest>db_start
OK

---
dbmcli on dbtest>db_state
OK
State
UNKNOWN

---

The dbm.prt shows, in the last line:
0x00000f9c ERR 1 DBM unexpected dbstate 0
2005-03-23 15:58:58 0x00000f9c ERR -24961 DBM ERR_STATE: cannot determine current db state

Since this is an test database, I tried to upgrade to 7.5.0.24. The upgrade process said that everything went ok, but I still can not start the database instance.
As an interesting note, with 7.5.0.19 I still could connect using SQL Studio.

I also saw in this list a hint to use "db_stop" and "db_clear" before trying to restart database, but it didn't help me either.

Any hints?

Regards,
Robson Paniago
