investigating maxdb, questions about available features...: msg#00257db.maxdb
I am a DB2 (UDB 8.2 on AIX) webapp developer by day and I have also used Oracle and Postgres a lot in the past. Oracle has something called "parameterized views" and UDB has a similar feature called "table UDFs (user defined functions)" that I've grown to use quite a bit. Does MaxDB provide any features like this? I am also wondering if analytics are available in MaxDB: for example, grouping sets, "group by cube," rollup, grouping(), etc. I also saw a mention somewhere some time ago that MaxDB stored procedures are able to return multiple result sets, but that this is not well supported or considered a good practice or something to that effect. Could someone provide an example of how one could code an SP to return multiple result sets as well as comment on whether this feature is supported, under more development, discouraged/deprecated, etc. and why? MaxDB looks to be a very fine product: good work and thank you.
