standby instance, log recovery: msg#00207db.maxdb
hello, *! i am using this nice database since 7.3 and now with 7.5 i want to do some more advanced stuff :) i want to run a standby instance that is constantly fed by log backups of a main instance, which seems to be a more or less standard task. my main instance works nice. i disabled autolog since i want to control the log backups. i ran a full backup and used that to create the standby instance (recreated it from the parameters, then recovered the data). now i am at the point where i want to load the first log backup (which was created manually by backup_start mylogbackupmedium) and it gives me: recover_start importlog LOG 001 ERR -24988,ERR_SQL: sql error -8003,Log and data must be compatible and knldiag.err shows the db-identifiers, which indeed differ. now, the documentation points out that the standby instance must not have been brought online, which of course happened. the questions are: is this the only reason why this recover does not work? will it work when i create another instance the same way and do not bring it online? is there some way to change the standby instance somehow so that i accepts the log backup anyway? i had the impression that 'util_execute clear log' somehow might help, but it doesnt. thank you very much for any advice, Raimund Jacob ps: it probably does not matter, but the main instance was created from an older 7.4 instance. pps: for the 7.4->7.5 and 7.5->7.5 copy operations i wanted to use the documentation from the chapter "Homogeneous System Copy with the Database Manager CLI". this documentation is wrong. it uses "INIT CONFIG" which does not exist anymore and it has the point wrong where you have to create the medium to import the data from. -- 7.
