Log area tuning questions: msg#00200db.maxdb
Hi Where can I find some good tips about log tuning. I'm trying to interprete the values of "wait for log writer", "Log I/O Queue overflow" , ... but I have no references to compare to. For example in our case: Logical Writes is 5.913.531.499 Wait for Log Writer is 4.120.058 Log I/O Queue overflow is 84 Is this a good balance? If not, what and how can I tune it? It's not that I can see the log area being filled up at dazzeling speeds. The total log area is 150 MB (3 files of 50MB) and they are backed up 3 times per day in average (3 log backup files per day are created wit autolog on). I could increase the log area, but I'd rather do not (unless that is the only solution), because every time a log backup is created, it is copied to a backup db instance and imported. Fewer times a backup is created, the longer the backup database is out of sync. I did not exactly find the answers for my questions in the manual. I did find what "Wait for log writer" means for example, but I did not find how to tune it. Thanx in advance for any useful tip, Regards, Filip Sergeys (Oh, and a Merry Christmas and happy New Year) -- *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* * System Engineer, Verzekeringen NV * * www.verzekeringen.be * * Oostkaai 23 B-2170 Merksem * * 03/6416673 - 0477/340942 * *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
