Subject: RE: 903,Host file I/O error,Could not open volume

Hi Markus,

You are absolutely right. I have a mountpoint defined as backup3.
The error in the kndiag.err file says 'Permission denied'

With MAXDB 7.5.00 the ownership of the sapdb lies with new user SDB pertainin
to group SDBA. The user is deactivated as suggested by installation and
configuration guide which is security feature with this release.

After giving 'sdb' user permossion to write over the directory it solved my
problem

Here is the error in the knldiag.err file.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2004-12-20 14:47:32 396 ERR 11000 d0_aopen Cannot open device, Permission denied
2004-12-20 14:47:32 396 ERR 11000 d0_aopen Device name

2004-12-20 14:47:32 200 ERR 52012 SAVE error occured, basis_err 3700

Thanks for your suggestion.

Sachin

Yes.. if you backup device name starts p. ex. with "BACK..." then the system
will try to start 'backint' since BACK is a reserved name. That's why I
asked you what your backup device name is... It's also possible that the
backup is failing a an other place (forking processes etc.) and the error
you're seeing is just the very final error.

Check your knldiag.err and maybe post the relevant parts to the list.
Without knowing exactly what is happening there it's almost impossible to
