Hi Markus, You are absolutely right. I have a mountpoint defined as backup3. The error in the kndiag.err file says 'Permission denied' With MAXDB 7.5.00 the ownership of the sapdb lies with new user SDB pertainin to group SDBA. The user is deactivated as suggested by installation and configuration guide which is security feature with this release. Yes.. if you backup device name starts p. ex. with "BACK..." then the system will try to start 'backint' since BACK is a reserved name. That's why I asked you what your backup device name is... It's also possible that the backup is failing a an other place (forking processes etc.) and the error you're seeing is just the very final error. Check your knldiag.err and maybe post the relevant parts to the list. Without knowing exactly what is happening there it's almost impossible to help your...
