There is a "rule of thumb" - one data volume on one disk. If you put more
that one devspace on a disk, I/O may be interfer and collide when reading or
updating data, if you have only one on one disk it will have only two
servertasks for doing backup, index creation etc. This maybe true for bigger
databases but for 9 GB it's IMHO ok to have five volumes 200 MB each.

The CACHE_SIZE is the most critical parameter. You should put it as high as
possible because if the DB is able to read the data from the cache instead
of doing I/O it's factors faster.

10.000 pages is 80 MB, 15.000 is 120 MB so if you can increase even more it
will become even faster. Long ago I was told that the CACHE_SIZE should be
at least 1/10 of the (filled) databse size, this may still be true or not,
fact is, that the more memory the database has to cache the tables the
faster it will run.
