libsqlodw is the thing you should look at.

No. Moreover, there might be a problem with Unicode in Unix. MaxDB and the
ODBC driver support UCS2 Unicode, i.e. 2 bytes per character.
Under Unix, a Unicode character might be 4 bytes.
  typedef unsigned long wchar_t;

Unitl now, I did no Unicode tests on Unix with a driver manager in between,
but linked directly with libsqlodw.
