I have what seems to be a simple problem but cannot resolve it.
I have a value list which is accessible via a Pop Up Menu field called
NamesVL. The Value list displays the contents of a "Name" field from another
file called Names, this all works fine. All fields are Text fields.
I now want to change it as the source field "Name" may be empty if no
records exist in the Names file and if it is I get the <no values defined>
message in my Pop up Menu. What I want to happen at the same time is to have
the Show Custom Dialogue message "No Name records exist, to create a new
record go to Names file and create a new record" appear.
The problem is when I incorporate this message into a script the window
shows fine whether there are records or not but I cannot get the value list
to show.
Does anybody know how to resolve this? Should this be done via a script or a
calculation ?
I think I'm in over my head here, any help out there gratefully accepted.
I'm using Filemaker dev7 v.3 on a Windows XP home ServPK2
