File Sharing

Hello,

we are running Filemaker Server 7 on a Windows server (XP) and have a small 
office LAN with 4 PCs running Windows XP with Filemaker Pro 7 on each machine.

We are wanting to be able to access the Server from a remote office and I am 
writing to ask advice on the best and most secure way to do this.

I understand that we can host the files over the web, but have some concerns 
over security and speed. Could anyone advise if they are doing this, how they 
have secured their files and how usable it is for the users in the remote 
office.

The other option I think is available would be logging in to the server by 
entering the IP address, however I have no experience in this

I would be very grateful if anyone can put forward suggestions for the most 
efficient and secure way to achieve both options
