I have to echo David's question about possible DB corruption. As for the container question, at this time, queries cannot be run across multiple containers. That would need to be done at the application level. As for speed, the product works best with a large number of relatively small documents in a single container. I would expect that once the database is intact, if the indexes are set up correctly, you will see very good response.
