Special Session on Web Mining
=============================
The 2005 International Conference on Data Mining (DMIN '05) June 20 - 23, 2005
Monte Carlo Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
NOTE: This session was previously listed as being part of the 2005
International Conference in Internet Computing (IC'05) to be held in Las Vegas,
Nevada, June 27 - 30, 2005. The tremendous success of the International
Multiconferences in Computer Science and Computer Engineering has led to the
establishment of a second group of conferences - The World Congress in Applied
Computing. Some conferences and sessions formerly held with the
Multiconferences have been moved to the World Congress in Applied Computing.
The Web Mining Session is now part of the International Conference on Data
Mining, one of 14 conferences within The World Congress in Applied Computing to
be held June 20 - 23, 2005. This is the week prior to the Multiconferences at
the same location. For a complete list, of all conferences refer to:
http://www.world-academy-of-science.org/.
THE CONFERENCE:
Data mining is the finding of new knowledge in large repositories of data. The
repositories may be data warehouses, data bases, intranets, the internet, the
World Wide Web, or other sources of data. It is an interdisciplinary field
using techniques from artificial intelligence, statistics, databases,
information retrieval, and others. The demand for data mining exists today in
every business and industry. This conference seeks to explore both the
underlying technologies required to enable data mining and the characteristics
of evolving applications that make use of its technologies. It is anticipated
that The International Conference on Data Mining (DMIN '05) will be a major
forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners throughout the world to
present their latest research results, theories, developments, and applications.
THE WEB MINING SESSION:
Web mining refers to the discovery and analysis of data, documents, and
multimedia from the World Wide Web. This includes content, hyperlink
structure, and usage analysis. However, the explosion of information available
on the Web has increased the need for tools and technologies for efficient
document and multimedia concept storage, extraction, and management.
Web mining is interdisciplinary in nature, spanning across such fields as
information retrieval, the semantic Web, natural language processing,
information extraction, machine learning, database, data mining, data
warehousing, knowledge management, user interface design, and visualization.
Papers are sought for this session on Web Mining. High quality, original
papers covering any aspect of Web mining, including but not restricting to the
following:
* Concept Storage and Mining
* Content Mining
* Data and Web Warehousing
* Data Cleaning
* Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
* Database, Data Warehouse, and Data Engineering
* Design and Maintenance of Metadata Repositories
* Design of Data and Web Warehouses
* Document Clustering and Visualization
* Domain Knowledge in Web Mining
* Emerging Web Techniques
* Indexing Schemes
* Information Extraction From Unstructured or Semi-Structured Data
* Information Integration on the Web
* Information Retrieval
* Internet and Web Data Management
* Interoperability and Heterogeneous Systems
* Knowledge Discovery in Databases
* Knowledge Management
* Managing of Web Documents
* Metadata Use and Management
* Multidimensional Data Models
* Multidimensional Query Languages and Query Optimization
* Multimedia Information Systems
* Ontologies

* Web Structure Analysis
* XML
SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:
Prospective authors are invited to submit a draft paper (about 4 to 5 pages,
single spaced, font size 10 or 12) to Anthony Scime (address is given below) by
the due date. E-mail (with MS Word attachment) and Fax submissions are also
acceptable. The length of the Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be
limited to 7 pages. Papers must not have been previously published or
currently submitted for publication elsewhere.
The first page of the draft paper should include:
Title of the paper, name, affiliation, postal address, E-mail address,
telephone number, and Fax number for each author. The first page should also
include the name of the author who will be presenting the paper (if accepted)
and a maximum of 5 keywords.
EVALUATION PROCESS:
Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness.
Each paper will be refereed by two researchers in the topical area. The
Camera-Ready papers will be reviewed by one person.
PUBLICATION:
The conference proceedings will be published by CSREA Press (ISBN) in hardcopy.
It may be a multivolume set. The proceedings will be available at the
conference. Previously, high quality papers have been selected for expansion
and publication in leading journals and books.
LOCATION OF CONFERENCE:
The conference will be held in the Monte Carlo Resort hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada,
USA. This is a mega hotel with excellent conference facilities and over 3,000
rooms. The hotel is minutes from the Las Vegas airport with free shuttles to
and from the airport. The hotel is within walking distance of most other Las
Vegas attractions.
